My Story

I am currently pursuing my PhD in the Neuroscience and Psychology of Sleep Lab, where my research is centred around understanding the cognitive and emotional effects of Closed Loop Targeted Memory Reactivation (TMR). My primary focus is on how TMR influences the brain’s ability to integrate information and enhance cognitive functions such as problem-solving and memory retention. This work aims to contribute to a broader understanding of neural plasticity and how targeted interventions during sleep may support these processes.

In addition to the cognitive aspects, I am deeply interested in the emotional implications of TMR, particularly its potential to alleviate clinical conditions such as depression. By investigating how positive memories can be selectively reinforced during sleep, I aim to explore novel approaches for improving mood and reducing depressive symptoms. While previous research has predominantly examined TMR's effects using negative or neutral emotional content, I focus on its impact on positive emotional processing. This shift in perspective may offer new insights into how emotional processing goes awry in conditions like depression and anxiety, providing a more holistic view of emotional regulation.

Outside of my academic work, I enjoy a more relaxed pace, spending time with my husband and our three cats, who never fail to provide a sense of calm and joy. I also have a passion for music, yoga, and reading, which help me maintain balance amidst the demands of research life.
